Welcome aboard the Jakare. Every cruise is a unique adventure through one of the world’s most fascinating natural treasures: Komodo National Park.
I’m Audrey, your cruise director. Today, I’ll share what makes this place so incredible in my eyes. I’ll also explain how our team strives to offer you the best possible experience.
Komodo: A Preserved Paradise
Komodo National Park stretches about 40 kilometers from north to south. It is home to exceptional wildlife, including the famous Komodo dragons. These creatures are endemic to the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Padar, and Nusa Kode. They evoke an actual return to the age of dinosaurs. Imagine yourself on a beach in Nusa Kode. You watch these impressive reptiles. Sometimes they are seen swimming or walking with their undulating gait. Their forked tongues flick in and out.
To observe them up close, we head out early in the morning, around 7 a.m. The cold-blooded dragons warm up in the sun at this time. We avoid the crowds from day trips. This offers a more intimate and authentic encounter with these mythical creatures.
At Rinca, the welcome area was renovated three years ago. It now features a captivating new museum and a safe walkway. The walkway offers a stunning view of the dragons. You’ll discover impressive skeletons and detailed maps of the park. There are also enriching explanations of the local wildlife. The walk through the savannah leads you to Luo Buaya Hill. There is an unforgettable panoramic view. You may encounter water buffalo, warthogs, and perhaps even green or blue vipers.

Diving in Komodo: A Unique Underwater World
Diving in Komodo is another story. It is an adventure in itself. Here, the currents set the rhythm of underwater life. Imagine a massive channel. A powerful current makes the corals and schools of fish dance. Two oceans meet here, creating unique conditions. These conditions vary between the north and south. The underwater landscapes have spectacular marine diversity.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced diver, our team ensures each dive is safe and memorable. We know the currents like the back of our hand. We know exactly where and when to dive. This helps us discover the “sweet spots.” These are places where marine life is most active. The landscapes are also the most breathtaking. I’ve been diving here for 8 years. Jack, our Papuan guide, has been diving for 12 years. Our expertise ensures you fully enjoy each immersion.
Offering the Best of Komodo Despite the Crowds
With the growing influx of visitors, it’s essential to know where and when to go. This helps avoid the crowds and discover still-preserved places. Thanks to our deep knowledge of the park and its tides, we navigate skillfully. This offers you maximum comfort on board and optimal navigation efficiency.
We avoid popular sites when they’re crowded. Instead, we take you to secret beaches. These beaches are often tinged pink by a mix of white sand and red coral.
Our itineraries are designed to be flexible. They adapt to your desires. Whether you want to explore undiscovered dive sites or enjoy the serenity of a secluded beach, we guarantee a tailor-made experience.
Meeting the People of Komodo and Flores
Finally, a cruise aboard the Jakare wouldn’t be complete without meeting the inhabitants of Komodo and Flores. These people are incredibly generous and gentle. They are always ready to share their culture and history with a warm smile. During some of our stops, we visit villages. You can discover their unique way of life and unmatched hospitality.
Every cruise aboard the Jakare is an invitation to discover the wonders of Komodo, both on land and underwater. You also enjoy the comfort and expertise of our crew. I can’t wait to welcome you on board. I’ll share the hidden treasures of this preserved paradise. See you soon on the Jakare!
